Don't ugly cry just yet! There's hope!
They got into my brain and had tiny Wix babies chanting "one of us...one of us” so I went for it.
After I bottomed out on Word Press and we officially became frenemies, my blog stalled for another 5-6 months. I was blog-gally depressed. Now I’m just making up words but you get it. My confidence took a blow. Everyone said how easy it was but I couldn’t even get passed step 1. WTF am I an idiot? All evidence pointed to YES I am an idiot. A dumb stupid idiot moron. That was me.
There was a long momentary silence for my WordPress dreams and apparently my intellect.
But then I snapped out of it. I had a vision for what I wanted to do and those Ga-jillon dollars to make and I felt there must be something else out there for blog-challenged morons like me!
I went looking for an alternative. Okay I admit I did a "blog programs for dummies" google search. Basic, I know but after Word Press I felt like a true dumb a$$. I got a list of 16 possible programs, most of them I had never heard about but then there was one that I did know: Wix. Those diabolical marketing masterminds had crept into my brain watching all of those "look we're having so much fun creating websites and we're eating hot apple pie too" commercials.
Okay the apple pie thing was a lie but you get my meaning. They got into my brain and had tiny Wix babies chanting "one of us...one of us” so I went for it.
One of the first things that I really liked about Wix were the templates. And there are tons of them out there including the blogging website that I ended up choosing. It was originally a food blog that came with 4-5 template posts so I didn't start from scratch...I had pages already built in and just made the changes that I wanted from there.
I absolutely love their drag and drop options which made it so easy to make my blog pretty. You can add all kinds of things from graphics, fonts, lines, shapes....the list is really endless and also includes other things that I had no idea what they were until I went in and started clicking. I'm still learning.
There are definite cons to using Wix like the price. Right now, my blog isn't officially published so I'm using their free option. This works great for me because it eliminates the stress of having to get it out there because I'm paying for it already. Once it's ready to be published I plan to get their business plans which I hear run around $20ish a month. Word Press is definitely cheaper.
If you are starting your own blog you just have to compare the cost of each with the ease of each of of the programs and decide for yourself which is best for you.
Check out what I did next in B3.
